About me
Meet your Captain
As a public school teacher I realized right away that students learn in different ways. I take pride in learning what styles work for each of my students and what adjustments to make so that you and your family get the best experience. My experience in education has included high school, currently junior high and adult education for over 20 years. I continue to volunteer many hours of teaching basic and advanced boating classes with Americas Boating Club in this area. I have worked hard to develop hands on classes so that my students have fun and enjoy the full experience.
My boating experience includes over 30 years of running many different types of boats from 10 ft to 75 ft motor yachts within the Great Lakes. I also have competed in multiple boat handling contest in the I.L.Y.A.
(Inter Lake Yachting Association) power boat regatta held each year at Put In Bay.
I have two obsessions: The first is boating (growing up in the Catawba Island, Port Clinton and Sandusky area that was not too hard), second, is teaching and coming up with hands-on ways of making the experience more beneficial to you. My goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible whether I am giving lessons, or I am moving your boat as your personal captain. Either way, your investment and the safety of you and your family is my commitment to you.

Whether you are a beginner, expert, or somewhere in between, do not worry! I offer and recommend a variety of high-quality courses designed to prepare you for your next step.
I am not only a captain, but also a licensed public school teacher that have experience, patience and passion.
In the Classroom:
- As an Americas Boating Club (United States Power Squadron) member, I have access to many classes all around Northwest Ohio and South East Michigan. All classes are state certified and NASBLA approved.
- Earn your boaters license and all the basic knowledge to be safe on the water.
- Want advanced "hands on" classes? We can find a class that fits what you need.

On The Water Lessons:
These classes are customized to not only learn, but practice using your boat, with me, a Licensed Captain/ professional Teacher by your side. I listed just a few of the topics are below.
- Docking (basic/with wind/current/spring lines and tips)
- Slow and high speed maneuvering
- Boat handling (all conditions)
- Rules of the Water (while on the water) (right of way/ figuring out the buoys)
- Night time navigation
- Anchoring/ mooring balls
- Charting (beginner to advanced)

Captain For Hire
I currently hold a U.S.C.G. 100 Ton Near Coastal Master License. I have over 30 years of experience on the great lakes with many different types of vessels from 10 ft dingy up to 75 ft motor yachts.
I am extremely particular with my own vessel, just as I would be with yours. Take a look below.

This may be different for each person and for each situation. I work with you until you, feel comfortable. Some people that could be a couple hours, for others a couple weeks.
